This time last year I sent the email below asking you to support the important work of the Parkinson’s Action Network’s (PAN) advocate community. I had mentioned that I was making monthly contributions and I asked you to join me.
I had expected there to be a jump around the 100%-200% mark. What happened shocked me…
…it increased by approximately 1,000%!
Great news for people with Parkinson’s disease.

Dear Advocate,
I’m writing to ask for your help on something very important to me – advocacy for people impacted by Parkinson’s disease.
I know many of you, but for those who don’t know me, I am a Parkinson’s advocate who was diagnosed with young-onset Parkinson’s disease seven years ago. While I’m lucky to still be working full-time as a teacher, I know there are so many others with Parkinson’s who can no longer work and have a difficult time managing symptoms of the disease. Yet these warriors are out there advocating with the Parkinson’s Action Network (PAN) and for others like me.
PAN means a great deal to me. That’s why I was proud to join the PAN Board in October to contribute whatever time, talent, and resources I have to the 500.000 to 1.5 million Americans with Parkinson’s disease.
One of the things PAN needs right now is predictability in a funding stream. I’m pleased to announce that we’re kicking off a robust monthly giving program, which allows individuals to make recurring, monthly donations. I have committed to becoming a monthly donor. I’m asking you to join me.
Funding for PAN has begun to shift in recent years. In the past, major corporate grants provided a great deal of our funding. Those gifts are on the decline and it’s imperative that PAN enhance its individual giving program in order to sustain our important work.
Please join me in becoming a monthly donor by making a tax-deductible contribution of $5, $10, $20, $30, or more each month. Your donation ensures that PAN and our advocates continue to have the resources to fight for better treatments and a cure for Parkinson’s disease.
